Human Papillomvirus
WHAT IS THE TIMETABLE?
Three primary vaccinations between 12 – 17 years of age before the first sexual intercourse are given. The second dose 1 – 2 months after the first dose and the third dose 6 months after the second dose.
It would be important to highlight that the vaccine is not against all the strains of HPV which predispose cervical cancer but the ones involved the most. It is recommended that all women still follow up with their doctor for preventive cervical exam.
In Germany the vaccine is currently recommended only for females. In the United Stated the vaccination is recommended for both sexes. The minimum age for vaccination is 9 years
